There are countless ways to measure success, but few can compare to the sheer joy of realizing one’s childhood dreams. When I was four, I was terrified by my first sight of flying monkeys seizing Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz. In later years, as I watched the annual re-broadcast, I was captivated by the magical wonder of the land of Oz but still a little scared. Perhaps to soothe my fears and assure myself, “it’s only a movie,” I began seeking details about the production. I’d lose myself in daydreams, imagining the wonder of being in a movie studio. My heart was set on becoming an actor but, honestly, I’d have been thrilled with any role that allowed me to step into the enchanting world of Oz.

Fast forward to the days when I found myself on the sets of Alien Resurrection, The Lord of the Rings, X-Men, The Hobbit and many other impressive productions. Those childhood fantasies became my reality, and the feeling was nothing short of thrilling.
